Rebuilding is a good thing. When you can tear down what you’ve previously created and produce something new, you’re flexing your brain and starting from scratch. Think about kids; they build massive lego or wooden block structures only to destroy them and start over. It’s a bit liberating to take something that you were happy with and tear it down and start over. Last night I practiced this by re-working the design of this site. The architecture didn’t change, but the cosmetics did. For this site I have a wordpress install on my server to power the home page, the rest of the pages are static with exception to a jquery twitter fetcher that updates in the footer. Nothing drastic or groundbreaking, but for me it was fun to do and helps me think of new things to apply elsewhere.
