Path App Hits The Street Today
A new social sharing tool called Path hit the street today. Path dubs itself the personal network because it limits the number of contacts you share with to 50; a number they derived from an Oxford scientist that stated one can only really manage 150 social contacts.
Path lets users tag their photos with people, places and things – that are then shared or not shared with their networks. Path is meant to augment your social networks rather than replace and is set up to give users trusted sharing. In other words, they can feel comfortable that what theyre sharing is only being viewed by up to 50 trusted contacts.
Path is backed by plenty of capital and was started by Napster creator Shawn Fanning and former Facebook platform designer Dave Morin. I’ll be downloading the app today and seeing how it functions in relation to traditional social media sites like Facebook and twitter that allow a virtually unlimited number of followers or friends.
